Alliance Française Melbourne will be closed for the holidays from 19 December to 8 January (inclusive) 🎄
Alliance Française de Melbourne, in partnership with the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) is offering the opportunity for government and non-government school teachers of French to undertake the Diplôme Elémentaire de Langue Française (DELF - Diploma in French language) level B1 & B2 between October 2013 and March 2014.
The DELF for Victorian teachers comprises a 60-hour preparation course to support participants improve their written and spoken French in preparation to undertake the DELF examination.
WHO?
DEECD will fund a total of 12 teachers of French - 8 from government schools, 2 from Catholic schools and 2 from Independent schools- to participate in the course. This course is firstly aimed at primary school teachers and secondary school teachers teaching Years 7, 8 and 9. Alliance Française de Melbourne will be responsible for selecting the 12 teachers and for conducting the preparation course and the DELF examination on behalf of DEECD.
WHEN and WHERE?
The DELF preparation course will be conducted out of school hours between October 2013 and March 2014 at Alliance Française de Melbourne, 51 Grey Street, St Kilda. Participating teachers will sit for the DELF examination in March 2014.
DEECD will cover course costs for participants. Participants will be required to contribute $100 for the DELF examination and diploma fee and $100 for textbooks and class materials (a contribution of $200 in total per participant).
WHY WOULD I ENROL?
The DELF preparation course will be a unique opportunity for teachers to develop their skills in various areas: they will get the chance to practice French and prepare for a diploma that will recognize internationally their level and competencies in French. They will meet other colleagues and have the opportunity to share teaching methods as well as work towards improving their abilities with the French language. Last year, 14 teachers took part in the course and all of them were successful in passing the examination. This year, 12 other teachers will get the chance to take part in it. Examination period in 2014: mid-March.
Participants will need to commit to regular attendance and completion of all course work.
