Recipe: La Quiche Lorraine 


Quiche Lorraine is a traditional French dish made with a flaky pie crust and a filling of bacon, Gruyere cheese, eggs, and cream. In France and around the world, this dish is a popular choice for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, and is frequently served with a side salad or fresh fruit. Quiche Lorraine is a wonderful and gratifying dish that can be enjoyed at any time of day, thanks to its buttery, delicate crust and creamy, cheesy filling.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pie crust (pre-made or home made)
  • 6 slices of bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg


Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C.
  2. Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges.
  3. Sprinkle the chopped bacon and shredded cheese evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bacon and cheese in the pie crust.
  6. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set and the crust is golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
