An exclusive event brought to you by the Alliance Française de Melbourne and the Embassy of France in Australia.
We are delighted to be welcoming Zahia and Fettouma Ziouani for the 35th edition of the Alliance Française French Film Festival.
Join us on Thursday 7 March for an exclusive meet and greet event where you will have the opportunity to discuss with conductor Zahia Ziouani and her twin sister, cellist Fettouma Ziouani. A pupil of maestro Sergiu Celibidache, Zahia Ziouani created her own philharmonic orchestra, the Divertimento Symphony, at the age of 22 in 1998. 25 years later, the orchestra performs at different national and international venues and will take part of the Olympic Game event in Paris.
Zahia and Fettouma Ziouani have been invited by the Embassy of France in Australia as part of the Alliance Française French Film Festival to
present Divertimento, a triumphant and heartwarming film based on their true-life story. The film highlights how two sisters
aspired to break into the exclusive domain of classical symphonic music and overcome societal barriers.
Priort to meeting the Ziouani sisters, check out the trailer
of Divertimento
to get a glimpse of their lives. And make sure to take a look at the festival programme to select a screening of the film as you will
receive a two-for-one ticket as part of the event.
